Ok, so we have a major event to report this week! Today we went to the doctor for a three hour visit. So what happens in a three hour visit? Every single imaginable test that can be run was run. So I know you are all anxious for the results of the test so here they are:
Eye color test: Me - blue, Baby - not sure at this point
Weight: Me - 170lbs (i need to get in the gym), Baby - dunnoh, maybe a few ounces?
Height: Me - 5'7", Baby - seriously, i don't know, how tall is a peach?
Humor test: Me -off the charts, Baby - not applicable
Handsomeness test: see "Humor test" results above
Fainting test: Me - Pass, Baby - Pass, Teresa - Fail
Ok, seriously, Teresa did have to endure a whole bunch of tests and did great. Everything is perfectly normal so far!!! We got to see another ultrasound and our baby has two arms and two legs and we got some great pictures. It was great to see the kid again, we haven't seen him in a while because our friends & family have not chipped in for a home ultrasound machine as I requested in an earlier blog. Thanks. The kid has really done some sprucing up around his bachelor pad and apparently he is a neat freak like his dad as the place was spotless.
Oh, and as hinted above Teresa fainted when they took blood but that is apparently normal for those Drew kids. The nurses didn't appreciate it but she warned them!!! Don't worry, Teresa is doing great and amazes me everyday with how well she is handling all the changes in her life!!!
All for now!

Week12_Sorry we forgot Week11
Hooray for vocal chords! That's what I've been busy forming recently...or at least the kid inside of me has been! These will be necessary to wake me up every night, multiple times a night and give me just enough motivation to nudge Spencer and say "Hey-go get your baby!" Or at least that's my current plan.
So these past two weeks have been much better than the 10 before it. The nausea is just about gone, but the tiredness is not. I can handle sleeping though.-I've always been good at that. I don't quite look pregnant in my clothes yet, but I can tell when I'm getting dressed that I have a permanent belly. It's like when you eat too much and you have a little bloated tummy except that usually I can just suck in and it goes away. Now I can suck in and nothing happens. Most of my clothes do not fit the same way they used to- if at all. Some of my pants I can still wear and some I just unbutton the first button. I've started to shop for clothing again and I'm particularly looking for loose fitting, cotton jersey dresses (email me if you've got suggestions) because they are comfortable. The dress I've found to be most comfortable is a solid brown, very boring, empire waist dress from a top designer boutique called "Wal-Mart." You may not have heard of this fabulous boutique, but there is probably one close to you. My mother about fell over dead when I told her my new wardrobe was from the same place we buy meat and eggs. Not that she wasn't pleased in my thriftiness, she was just surprised by it. My standards have changed and comfort has moved up in the priority list!
This weekend Spencer, Spencer's dad, and 2 guys from south of the border laid sod in our back yard and side yards. I think it's Spencer's way of "nesting" by creating a safe, green place for our kid to play. He said he was glad the mud and dirt was gone and I have to say- it really looks amaaaaaazing! I know I should have helped, but come on- does a pregnant woman need to be laying sod in 90 degree heat? I voted no. I'm sure it's written somewhere in one of these books we have. If I can't go water skiing this summer, it certainly can't be safe for me to do manual labor. Luckily Spencer felt the same way. He said he would lay sod if I would just concentrate on making the large intestine. DEAL!
This Tuesday we have our next appointment. This is a 3 and a half hour appointment. We'll find out a whole bunch of stuff including the chances of our baby having down syndrome and spina difida (no I don't actually know what that is, but it doesn't sound good.) If the chances are high, we will get to read more books and will consider it just as much of a blessing as any child.
We'll keep you updated on the baby's status after Tuesday. Thanks for your prayers!

Week 10- Happy Easter!!

Happy Happy Easter and Hooray for Jesus Rising! Hooray also for being in our 3rd month already!
What a wonderful Easter we have had! We went to Sharpsburg to spend Easter with Spencer's family and it was very relaxing and enjoyable. The Easter bunny was very good to Spencer and I, but what a wonderful surprise-the Easter bunny thought of Baby Shell too! Baby Shell received 2 soft pajamas that are elastic at the bottom so his/her diaper can easily be changed. So genius! Baby Shell also received a gorgeous white baby blanket embroidered with two bunnies and monogrammed with an S. Sooo lovely and perfect! He/She also received his/her first stuffed animals- a soft white rabbit and a small chick in an egg! Baby Shell is going to be quite a blessed little child with all of this love!
Last weekend we celebrated Easter with Momma Drew and again, the Easter bunny visited the Drew home. The Drew Easter bunny brought Baby Shell a big cloth barn with 5 barnyard animals hiding inside. Each animal makes a sound. Baby Shell also received a large green frog puppet! Spencer has tried it out just to make sure it works and yes, it ribbits and ribbits and ribbits...not to the amusement of our dogs! We also now have our first baby books! (I'm beginning to think that the Drew Easter bunny is a kindergarten teacher!)
This week was the 11th week of pregnancy and I'll admit I'm feeling better. Week 6 I was sick all day long and now it has settled down quite a bit. I tend to get the sick feeling only in the evenings now and I'm hoping this too will go away.
But I have learned a few things about this whole baby-making/incubating experience:
1. Peeing all of the time is very annoying and I have actually said the words, "I wish I had a catheter."
2. I will go to the bathroom in many more places than I ever thought I would. My cleanliness standards have been adjusted.
3. When Baby Shell tells me to get a McDonald's cheeseburger, he/she means RIGHT NOW!
4. I may be able to run a half marathon without trouble, but there are times now that I walk up one flight of stairs and start breathing hard. I'm still running 4-5 days a week, but randomly I get out of breath just standing up!
5. Back pain at age 26? Oh come on!!
6. I thought I used to be a good sleeper- I had no idea how quickly I could fall asleep until I got pregnant. 30 seconds is all it takes I swear!
7. Before being pregnant if I ate too much I could suck in my stomach and still look kinda thin. Now I can suck in all I want and this little pouch DOES NOT GO AWAY!
8. It feels very good to unbutton the button on your pants before sitting down. VERY GOOD.
So that is my list of things I've learned so far. Happy Easter and for those of you wanting something funnier to read, I'll ask Spencer to blog again soon. :)

Week 9_Spencer's Turn
Wow. We have hit a new level of misery. The congestion, headaches, sore throat...oh, don't worry, Teresa is fine, but my allergies are killing me people!!! I think we got a good 2-3 inches of pollen over the weekend and we temporarily lost one of the dogs when Sam was overrun by a fast moving cloud of ragweed spores. For those of you who are interested, I will be setting up a separate blog (in direct competition with this one) that will document the trials and tribulations of my battle with spring allergy season. There will also be a gift registry for those of you who want to give me an allergy present or maybe throw an allergy shower. I am happy to report that my doctor started me on nasal steroids today. I hope they don't test for that at work.
Oh, I guess I should write something about the baby. We haven't heard from him/her lately so not much news. Him/her doesn't write or call very often. I guess I would be a little busy too if I was currently forming say a working intestinal tract, so I am trying to be understanding about the lack of communication so far. I guess it is probably not a good idea to distract the kid right now. I know if someone walks by my office at work with a KitKat or Krispy Kreme doughnuts it makes me lose focus. Focus is a good thing when making fingers and toes. I posted a diagram outside Teresa's belly in case the kid gets confused and needs to refer to a manual.

Week 9_2
I'm nauseous.... But I can't complain too much more to Spencer so I'm just going to blog it. I am officially tired of being nauseous and tired of being tired. I'm also officially fat. My jeans are getting tighter and I feel HUGE! Ugh. I think I've gained 4 lbs which on my frame is like 20lbs on a regular height person. This week I actually had to come home early from work one day because I was feeling so badly. I also told the President of my company this week so now 2 employees like me know, the HR woman, my manager, and the president. I'm still holing out on telling everyone else though. I figure I can hide it until my water breaks and I suddenly stop showing up for work.
Speaking of work, I survived another round of lay-offs this week. It's so nerve racking! I pray this economy turns around quickly because I will definitely not be able to find another job if I'm showing a big baby belly!! At least I'd have a good tag-line in interviews: "Hire me and you get an extra employee for free! (At least for a few months)"
Spencer is doing well at work- thank goodness! In fact, he's already planning our budget for next year to see how much we can put into the baby's college fund. I think it's a bit odd considering we still have student loans of our own to pay off! Now I understand why my parents wanted me to go to an in-state, scholarship paid college! Ah, but the people I met and the times I had at Tech are worth every dime I'm paying back now...and trust me, it's a lot of dimes.
Three more weeks until we have our big 3-hour doctor's appointment. They will test for genetic disorders, down syndrome, and to make sure the baby is growing at the right rate still. Spencer will get to watch and read magazines. I will get pinched, poked, prodded, and tested. Life is so not fair.
